Unless you suffer from claustrophobia, I’d highly recommend getting tickets to the top of the Arch – more about how you get up there in a moment. Something I hadn’t realized until more recently (in my defense, I didn’t move to the US from the UK until I was 29!) is that you can go up inside the Gateway Arch to the top. We were in St Louis over Easter, so we had to take the Easter bunny to the Arch too 😉 Our own Easter bunny Truffles next to the St Louis Gateway Arch Dogs aren’t allowed inside the visitor center, but they can wander around the park with you which gave us an opportunity to get some cute photos of Truffles looking like she’s ready to drop her debut album. One of the nice features of the National Park itself is that it’s pet-friendly. Sitting by a pond in Gateway Arch National Park There’s the Gateway Arch trail which encircles the Arch, but the park itself covers more than 90 acres and includes other walking trails, ponds and great views alongside the Mississippi River. To learn more about programming, call the Education Department at 31. Programs at the Gateway Arch begin half past the hour. Programs at the Old Courthouse begin at the top of the hour. Please allow 50 minutes for each program. Maximum group size is 30 students (one adult for every ten students). Reservations must be made 30 days in advance. Teachers who work at Title 1 public schools are eligible to apply for funding from the Journey Fund to subsidize the entire cost of visiting the Gateway Arch, including transportation, meals, tram rides, and the movie "Monument to the Dream." The programs are presented year-round, free of charge. National Park Service rangers facilitate audience-centered programs which may include role-playing, decision making, multiple perspectives, analytical thinking, and hands-on activities using replica items and period clothing. All programs are aligned with national, state and local standards and are designed for groups of all ages. Programs take place at the new Museum at the Gateway Arch and virtually. The Education and Interpretation staff invite you to participate in a wide range of educational programming at Gateway Arch National Park.
